We will begin learning to play the soprano recorder in fourth grade music classes. Playing the recorder not only promotes music literacy on the treble staff, but it also introduces students to breath control, embouchure, fingerings and baroque repertoire! Your child’s recorder will be stored in the music room and be sent home with your child at the end of the year so they can keep it. Recorders will not be shared between students. We will use a classroom incentive program that gives students an opportunity to collect recorder bands when they perform a song from their folder successfully. We are asking for a $5 fee to cover the cost of your child’s recorder and music folder, however should you need a scholarship, they are available.
